A Little About Us

WHAT WE DO

At Treeshaker Books, we believe that every author has a story to tell, and that every story deserves to be told. We work with our writers every step of the way on their literary journey, helping to bring out the most from their work. From an idea and rough draft, to editing and publication, Treeshaker Books helps our authors produce high quality, interesting, and entertaining books.

Our Process

HOW WE DO IT

After we have an agreed publishing contract we will make sure that the book has been satisfactorily edited. After receiving the final proof the book can be formatted, cover design finalized, etc. We will set the optimum price point that keeps your book competitive and appealing.
During the production period is the perfect window for an author to begin publicity and promo while we do the heavy lifting on the production side of things.
Once the book is published we make sure that the book is available in all of the usual channels (including worldwide distribution through Ingram), is available for purchase online via major websites (such as Amazon), and is available on as many formats as possible (ebook, paperback, and audiobook as available).

WHO'S IN CHARGE AT TSB

Tree Shaker Books exists on the premise that nobody has more at stake and nobody cares as much about success as the individual author. This is why we call ourselves tree shakers: we know that nobody else is going to do the hard work for us--and even if they did, they wouldn't do it with as much care as the person who invested their lives into a story.

That is a lesson that TSB owner and author Christopher D. Schmitz learned through contrasting his books that were published at traditional houses versus independently. That analysis, and the idea that unknown and Indie authors must put in additional, self-motivated legwork in order to be a success, is what birthed TSB.

TSB is really a partnership that stays on the traditional side of the publishing model, but operates with Indie principles (borrowing certain, practical ideas from micropresses). We help develop, produce, sell, and distribute your book and will give you marketing ideas, but it's an author's job to market the title--and nobody else can do it better or have as vested of an interest than a book's author.

Schmitz was first published in 2006 and saw the operations of a publisher from behind the scenes and thought I can see better ways to do this. Years later, after producing a number of Indie titles for himself and for others in his network, Schmitz launched Tree Shaker Books. Schmitz oversees operations, and while our circle is small, the nature of Indie publishing tools means our impact can still be global.
