For Authors

What sets Tree Shaker Books authors apart from others is the the "eyes wide open" premise. We want authors to understand what the publishing industry is like and know what it will take to succeed as a an Indie. It's where we get the name: modern writers must be willing to shake as many trees as possible until a few readers fall out.

AUTHOR EXPECTATIONS

We won't work with an authors that don't want to shake the trees (engage in book promotion and platform building.) We will work with our authors to develop a plan to build a list of followers, an online presence, and a physical presence to engage new readers (platform).
We will provide optional marketing opportunities authors may participate in, but it is the expectation in today's Indie market (even at many of the big, traditional houses,) that authors will do their own promotion to engage an audience and market their book.

TSB can help point to some trees, but it is an author's job to shake them!

SUBMISSIONS

Please only query us for books that are completed and highly edited.

Send submissions with the word "Submission" in the subject line. Please include a bio and full synopsis as part of your query and please also tell us about your current platform.

For Fiction:

Please do not send attachments. Below your query paste the first page of your book and a synopsis of your book.

For Nonfiction:

Please attach your book proposal.
Paste below your query the first two pages of the first chapter.

If we are interested we will contact you within 2-4 weeks.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Open to most genres except for picture books, children's books (middle grade is fine), poetry, cookbooks, table top books, or books that overtly violent, vulgar, racist, hateful/harmful, or not in keeping with general subjective tastes.
